We BELIEVE THAT ALL PURCHASERS DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT’s behind partner recommendations
The Healthcare Purchaser Alliance is committed to transparency, so we think that all our members deserve to know where our revenue comes from and how we make decisions about programs and solutions we offer. Luckily, it’s pretty simple.
In 2023, 96.9% of the Alliance’s revenue came from member dues, grants, data & analytic services, educational events, and investments. The majority, 76.5%, is from dues. Dues have been, and will continue to be, our organization’s lifeblood, and they are relative based on the size and stakeholder representation of the member.
The remaining 3.1% of the HPA’s revenue comes from the vendors we partner with in the form of commissions and referrals. While our purchaser Board made the decision to accept dollars from vendors to ensure the sustainability of our work, we think it is important for our members to know that these dollars are 100% transparent and do not in any way impact the recommendations that we make to members. Our process for selecting vendors has always, and will always, begin with researching the marketplace and selecting who we think offers the greatest value. Once our staff and Board are in alignment on which vendor we want to work with, we then begin the process of negotiating preferred pricing and HPA revenue. 100% of the revenue we receive is disclosed to the participating purchaser, and 100% goes to support the work of the organization. No bonuses or commissions whatsoever are paid to staff, as we do not ever want our staffs’ recommendations to be impacted by the prospect of monetary gain.
For us, this level of transparency is not only foundational to who we are as an organization, but it is also our members’ fiduciary duty to know who is getting paid and how much.
In the event our program participation should grow to a meaningful slice of our revenue, the Alliance’s goal is to use those dollars to reduce member dues so that more organizations can take part in our mission.
